The Poetree

The Poetree

A sanctuary of poetry and nature as living art.

An immersive installation where lyrics hang from the leaves and soundscapes play through the branches on the breeze.

It is designed to heal, inspire and bring you back into relationship with life. Every new poem becomes part of a growing canopy of voices.

These poems were curated for Equilibrio Festival in 2025 and 2026. They were sent in by people living in Lisbon, as original pieces and personal favourites, inspired by nature and chosen to bring you back to a state of love.

How the tree comes alive

Each poem is written by hand, rolled into a scroll and tied to a branch with yellow thread.

Then the tree is played beneath the canopy, with hours of poetry drifting through the leaves. People lie on cushions in the shade and listen until the sun goes down over the water.

Listen

Almost four hours of poetry woven with music and the sounds of nature, including the poems added in 2026. Lie back, close your eyes and let it play.

Help the Poetree grow

The Poetree is a living, growing thing. Add your voice by sending a poem: a favourite, or something you have written yourself. Send it as text, or record it in your own voice.

Please include:

  • the name of the poem
  • who wrote it
  • anything you'd like to say about what it means to you

Recording your voice? Send it as an MP3. Find a quiet room with no echo. A stocking stretched over your phone softens the sound.

The name of the poem, who wrote it, and what it means to you. Paste the words here too if you're sending it as text.
